Design within the limits of scarcity - Back to Beira

The Final Design Studio "Design within the limits of scarcity" explores the concept of scarcity and its relationship to creativity and design. This year, with the support of Comunità di Sant'Egidio, the students developed their suitable design proposal for the city of Beira (Mozambique), hit by Cyclone Idai in March 2019, to bring the refugees back to their city from several emergency camps built all over the region. Four different sites have been selected and a multitude of architectural solutions emerged to give people a safe new home and recreate a sense of community that has been lost.
