Buzescu - A Manifesto for the Rromani Vernacular. Study of Rromani Architecture
Rromani architecture, a controversial design style influenced by Romania's ethnic group, has been criticized for its tasteless and unplanned construction. Despite being one of Europe's largest minorities, Rromani's history has led to negative stereotypes and involuntary racism. Rromani architecture incorporates Rroma heritage into its communication, but its language is not widely understood by the public. This paper investigates whether Rromani architecture can be considered a new vernacular, exploring informal architecture, heritage, traditions, and mentality within the Rroma community. The paper will examine Rromani architecture, symbolism, and its role, concluding with a self-conducted case study to demonstrate its relationship with the presented theory.
