AI-Enhanced Architecture. MVRDV Summer School at DAD
The “AI-enhanced Architecture” Summer School, held by MVRDV at the Department of Architecture and Design (DAD) at Politecnico di Torino, offers a unique opportunity for architecture students and professionals to immerse themselves in MVRDV's groundbreaking design methodology, focusing on how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the architectural process.
Hosted at the prestigious Castello del Valentino, this intensive one-week course will explore the integration of AI-driven tools across various stages of design, encouraging students to harness the creative potential of AI while retaining full control over their design intentions.
Through hands-on workshops and lectures, participants will dive deep into the systematic use of AI in architecture, guided by MVRDV’s experts. With a strong focus on human-machine collaboration, students will engage with cutting-edge technologies like generative diffusion models and large language models. These tools will support design exploration, material and lighting simulations, and AI-driven image generation strategies, enabling faster, more precise design workflows.
The course will cover how AI can enhance traditional design processes and influence critical decisions, such as spatial organization, structural analysis, material selection, and lighting design. Special attention will be given to the emerging practice of AI collage-based design, where AI acts as an assistant rather than an autonomous creator, allowing architects to maintain creative agency.
