Scalo Vanchiglia. Designing by scenarios

The atelier introduces parametric design understood as a conception’s and compositional process, capable of explaining the priorities and phases of the conception process through a close link with the representation tools. The aim of the atelier is to apply computational tools, the so-called parametric approach, to the city, at the urban scale, working on the parameters of urban morphology. 3D modeling supported by VPL (Visual Programming Language), i.e. the parametric approach, allows the management of morphological/functional complexity in the composition phase; simultaneously the BIM approach allows us to anticipate the construction issues of the building in relation to the level of representation detail adopted. The outcome of the workshop is the development of a dynamic model, based on the clarification of the design/decision-making process, which allows the different scales of the project to be related and to prefigure different implementation scenarios.
